Breakfast in the morning, then we will discover together the city of Brasov - where Vlad led raids against the German Saxons. We will visit the medieval part of the city with: The Black Church, The Town Hall, The Black Tower, Ecaterina’s Gate and the Rope Street – the narrowest street in Europe.

Brasov is home to one of the the narrowest streets in Europe. The Rope Street (Strada Sforii) is approximately four feet wide; it connects Strada Cerbului with Strada Poarta Schei. This street was initially used as an access route by firefighters.

Brasov was founded, in 1211, by the Teutonic Knights, on an ancient Dacian site. In the 13th-Century Brasov was settled by the Saxons and shortly became one of Transylvania's seven walled citadels Siebenburgen.

The location of Brasov, at the intersection of trade routes linking the Ottoman Empire and western Europe, together with friendly tax regime, allowed Saxon merchants to obtain considerable wealth and exert strong political influence in the region. This was also reflected in the city's name, Kronstadt (German) or Corona (Latin), meaning the Crown City.
Strong fortifications defending towers were erected and maintained with funding provided the town's craft guilds.

In the afternoon, we will admire the beautiful landscape in Poiana Brasov Mountain Resort, and visit the Rasnov Citadel - one of the best preserved rustic citadels in Transylvania.

In the evening return to Brasov, enjoy an evening walk and overnight in the same hotel.

Breakfast in the morning, then we will leave Brasov and head to Sighisoara medieval citadel. On our way, we will visit the Prejmer Fortified Church - one of the 25 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Romania, and enjoy some time in Viscri village – one of the most beautiful Saxon villages in Transylvania, also UNESCO World Heritage Site.

After that, arrival in Sighisoara citadel, which Vlad the Impaler called “home”, one of the most beautiful towns in the heart of Transylvania. The whole medieval citadel is a part of UNESCO’s World Heritage. German architectural influences being visible throughout the entire city.

Located on the Tarnava Mare river in a picturesque setting, the citadel, a beautifully preserved medieval complex, dominates the town with its hilltop setting. The old town enclosed within the citadel walls has narrow cobblestone streets and brightly painted 16th century Saxon houses. There are nine towers; the most beautiful is the striking Clock Tower, the main gate into the citadel. From its balcony you can see the beautiful landscape over the whole town and countryside.

We have the possibility to enjoy a nice lunch on the terrace of Vlad Dracul’s House (Vlad the Devil's Home), the house where Vlad the Impaler was born in November or December 1431, today a famous restaurant. You can taste the famous Vampire wine and eat his favourite plate.

In the evening, overnight in a hotel right in the medieval citadel.

In our last evening, dinner and accommodation in a local family guesthouse in Sibiel village. We will serve a tasty traditional dinner prepared with pure biological food. Alcoholic drinks are also included.

Breakfast in the morning, and then we will head back to Bucharest, passing through the Carpathians Mountains. On our way, we will visit Cozia Monastery erected by Mircea cel Bătrân in 1388 and boasting his tomb, one of the most valuable monuments of national medieval art and architecture in Romania. Set along the Olt River, Cozia retains segments of the original 14th century fortified monastic walls. 

The monastery was rebuilt and enlarged several times over its long history. Even when Wallachia was an Ottoman tributary state, its rulers maintained the monastery. Between the 16th and 19th centuries, the paintings were restored, and additional structures and chapels built. Among remarkable features of the monastery are the two domed chapels at the corners of the eastern fortification walls overlooking the river Olt, as well as Bolniţa (“hospital” / “hospice”), the triconch chapel located on a hill on the opposite side of the monastery. All three mentioned chapels, with emblematic domes set high on attenuated drums, offer today recognizably neo-Byzantine and Brancovean styles; the latter currently understood as an architectural synthesis of local, Byzantine, late Renaissance, and Baroque stylistic features. The monastery suffered destruction and neglect, especially during World War I and its aftermath, and had been heavily renovated between the 1950s and 1980s.
