Sibiu Christmas Market in Transylvania
Cheerful and full of color, the stalls present a huge variety of merchandise, from Christmas decorations, roasted almonds, and mulled wine to traditional handmade products such as leather goods, jewelries, fur hats, and much more.
When night falls, locals and tourists alike gather here to try the local culinary specialties, whose tantalizing flavors shroud the square and the narrow medieval streets.
The Sibiu Christmas Market has become an annual event not to be missed, and the 2024 edition, titled “Christmas Unboxed”, promises to be an impressive one full of surprises. Taking place between November 15 and January 5, 2025, this fair will once again transform Sibiu into the “Capital of Christmas”, attracting visitors from all over the country and abroad.
This year’s edition comes with a new and exciting formula, expanding the experiences to several locations in the city. In the Great Square, under a canopy of tens of thousands of lights, visitors will be able to relax on a dedicated terrace and enjoy hot dishes. Among the main attractions are the 22-meter Ferris Wheel and the 600-square-meter natural ice rink, which can accommodate up to 300 people simultaneously. The same square will also host Santa’s Workshop, where children will be able to participate in educational and fun activities, such as mosaic and paper-making workshops, which bring joy to thousands of children every year.
"Santa’s Land" is a place dedicated to children, with a carousel, a train and Santa’s virtual sleigh. The spectacular projections on the facades of the buildings in Piața Mică, which spread the magic of the holidays over thousands of square meters, will add an extra sparkle. In Piata Huet, visitors will be able to enjoy a walk under an impressive installation with illuminated trees.
This year, the fair will bring 120 exhibitors from 36 counties of Romania. The products offered, from handmade decorations and unique gifts, to culinary delights and hot drinks, will surely be to the taste of every visitor.
Not only the festive atmosphere, but also the special events and activities dedicated to children will make the Sibiu Christmas Market an ideal place to spend your free time during the winter holidays.
