Cantacuzino Castle

In Romania's Busteni, the Cantacuzino Castle is a significant piece of architectural, historical, documentary, and aesthetic history. It was built in 1911 at the request of Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino, former minister of Romania between 1899-1900, 1904-1907.

The castle, built in neo-Romanian style, is surrounded by a park whose paths lead you to waterfalls and artesian fountains. Along with the interior ornamental aspects, the central pavilion houses a collection of mural paintings created on Cordoba leather that are exclusive to Romania. A heraldry display featuring 27 coats of arms belonged to nobility members who were related to the Cantacuzino family is also located in the ballroom of the central pavilion. The family emblem of the Cantacuzino family is engraved into the stone outside the castle, over the main entrance from the park. The park's main entrance also features an enormous stone terrace with views of the Bucegi Mountains and the Heroes' Cross over Caraiman Peak.

Since 2016, the castle courtyard has been home to two restaurants with terraces that first opened in 2012 and 2020, as well as an adventure park for kids.

The magnificent castle of the aristocratic Cantacuzino family, with a history dating back more than 1000 years to the Roman Empire, was chosen as the Nevermore Academy in the "Wednesday" series by Tim Burton produced for Netflix, and is now host to a fine dining restaurant and home to an art gallery. The most stunning views of the city and mountain are from the castle. You can drink your coffee and take in the majestic scenery of the Bucegi mountains.

Friday- Sunday 10.00 - 20.00, last entry at 19:35

There is a 4 EUR entrance fee just so that you can stroll around the castle's park. If you want to visit the inside of the castle and see the galleries, the prices go from around 10 to 15 EUR.
